About this position
Maintains a quality product by inspecting, cleaning, needed maintenance, correct assembling and packaging of surgical instruments and equipment for sterilization. Under limited supervision, performs work in a technical support position involving sterile processing and dispensing of supplies and equipment needed for patient care. Ensures departmental standards for quality and productivity are maintained. Performs sterile processing and distribution functions within the Central Processing Department. Implements and abides by Customer Service Standards. Supports and implements patient safety and other safety practices as appropriate.
CBSPD/HPSA certification is required
Requirements
Education
• High school diploma or equivalent required • Current team members hired before September 1, 2024 and any applicant participating in a NMH approved trainee program, are exempt from this requirement.
Experience
Experience • Instrument Room or Surgical Technologist experience preferred. • One-year Sterile Processing experience required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Possesses knowledge of surgical instruments, common medical abbreviations, and basic medical terminology • Ability to multi-task, work independently and as a team to provide exceptional customer service. • Effective planning, organizational and detail-oriented skills. • Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to express ideas and information (both in written and oral form), clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to the audience. • Demonstrated ability to deal with conflict in a positive manner. Has an awareness of, responds to, and considers the needs, feelings and capabilities of others. • Ability to be accountable for quality customer service and respond appropriately to a variety of personalities and situations. • Proficient in oral and written communication using English with skills sufficient to perform functions of position • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to perform manual inspection, assembly and packaging methods for sterilization • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards. • Possess basic computer usage and skills to include, MS applications, internet, etc. • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to operate automated SPD equipment
